Dumfries Farmer Scoops Prize in National Competition.

A Dumfries farmer has won a national competition held by Downland.

Roy Hiddleston, who farms near Dumfries correctly guessed the closest weight in the ‘Guess the Weight of the Downland Lamb’ completion on social media platform Facebook.

Rachel Clarry, Downland marketing, commented; ‘The competition asked farmers to guess what the weight of the Downland Lamb, would be on the 1st March 2017. The Downland Lamb was born on 2nd January 2017, birth weight 6kgs, she is a Suffolk ewe lamb and was fed Lamb Force Ewe Milk Replacer for 8 weeks. She was being fed ad lib on automatic feeder and offered creep. On the 1st of March the lamb weighed an impressive 36kgs’.

Roy’s successful guess of 36.2kg meant he won a £500 voucher to spend on Downland branded product at his local Downland retailer Murray Farmcare. Pictured is Roy Hiddleston receiving his voucher from his Murray Farmcare territory manager Bob Carruthers.

Rachel added. ‘We were delighted with the success of the competition and the weight of the lamb at 36kg after eight weeks, shows what a great product Lamb Force Ewe Milk Replacer, which is made with Ewe’s milk, really is’.
